About Us
Norman and Heather Dodd have been involved in agriculture all of their lives. They moved their family to their current farm location in 1995.
Finding working both on and off farm very arduous, the decision to to have a home business was made and Room To Grow was born.
This was in conjunction with their purebred cattle herd, selling seed stock from 1988 to 2013. A herd of 35 to 40 cow/calf pairs are still maintained on farm.
In 2000 our first Saskatoon orchard was planted as well as a greenhouse constructed.
Products
From the Garden
Seeding and planting starts as soon as the weather allows. On an average year we can offer fresh garden spinach, lettuce radish and green onions as soon as late May.
From the Greenhouse
If you are in the market for vine ripened, mouth watering tomatoes, this is where you’ll find them!! Just ask our many, many repeat customers!!
From the Berry Patch
We grow sweet, Everbearing Strawberries. This variety gives us a light crop of delicious fruit in July and then a heavier and even tastier yield in August until the first frost. U-pick by appointment.
Our On Farm Store
Our store, although not a huge space, is probably the busiest room in the farm!
It serves multiple uses as a workspace for packaging, storing and selling our home grown produce.
Our Process
Our growing year starts in January with tomato seeds being planted and calves being born. Also the greenhouse is being washed and prepared for the growing season.
April and May sees the gardens being prepared and seeded as the weather allows. As we don’t use pesticides, hand weeding begins in May and June.
Some salad greens are available from the greenhouse as early as May and tomatoes are often ripe by June.
